The Caribbean island of Bermuda offers a casual, laidback lifestyle that you’d almost expect from the destinations of the region, but with a heavy British influence that makes for a charming blend of cultures. The small city of Hamilton is vibrant and bustling, with colourful buildings and plenty of opportunities to pick up a souvenir at one of the lively markets or shopping malls. And when it’s time to relax, head to Horseshoe Bay Beach with its fantastic facilities and picturesque pink sands. There’s a rich maritime history to the island, reflected in the many landmarks you’ll find at the Royal Naval Dockyard. A strategic outpost over 200 years ago, you’ll now find the Commissioner’s House and the Maritime Museum that give an insight into British life on the island. Those with more of an inclination for the natural world will delight in the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo, with beautiful fish and tropical animals to meet. Or for something truly breath-taking, take an excursion down to the Crystal Caves and see the beautiful lakes and rock formations that sparkle. The official currency in Hamilton is the Bermuda Dollar, although the US Dollar is widely accepted. Hamilton is 3 hours behind Greenwich Mean Time (GMT -3)."
