Owing to the vast area that they cover and the sheer number of ports that you can explore, most Caribbean itineraries typically take place in either the Eastern or Western Caribbean, with some longer voyages calling across both. Some itineraries, particularly those which set sail from the shores of America, also include stops in the Bahamas, which lie just north of the Caribbean archipelago.

As well as year-round sunshine and some of the world’s most idyllic beaches, this archipelago of more than 7,000 islands is where you will find an abundance of lush inland jungles, colonial history and exhilarating water sports activities. Depending on where and with which cruise line you travel, there is also the chance to experience something else which the region is famous for - its food – at a fun-filled Caribbean beach party.

Wherever in the Caribbean you visit, you can expect incredible scenery, sparkling turquoise seas, white sand beaches and plenty of areas to explore. There are some Caribbean ports of call which are ultimate favourites, each with unique qualities making them special. One of the most popular is Barbados, within the east, where you will discover breath-taking botanical gardens and the incredible natural wonder, Harrison’s Cave. Dominica may also feature on your cruise itinerary, boasting bubbling natural hot springs, tropical rainforests and a mountainous landscape. You will also find the 65m-tall Trafalgar Falls. The Mexican island of Cozumel is another popular cruise destination, famed for being a fantastic scuba diving location, and there is an eco-park with underwater caverns that are home to dolphins, sea turtles and other wildlife. Arguably one of the most favoured ports is Jamaica, offering visitors a chance to explore its lush rainforests and snorkelling sites. The island of Curaçao provides an extensive coral reef system and its colonial influences can be seen throughout the capital.
